This includes the accurate and timely filing of state & local income/franchise, sales/use and personal property tax returns and the timely filing of appropriate credit and exemption applications.  This position has daily contact with staff and management personnel in corporate departments, i.e., finance, accounting, engineering, purchasing, etc., to obtain data required in the preparation of exemption applications and property tax returns to determine the basis for assessments & payment of taxes and has some contact with federal, state and local assessing officers/auditors and other outside personnel.<br/><br/><b>Principal Responsibilities&#58;</b><br/><br/>* Analyze data to accurately and timely comply with state & local tax returns in one or more of the state tax concentrated areas. This includes requesting appropriate data from the field in a timely manner, analyzing such data and uploading the data into tax systems.<br/>* File monthly, quarterly and/or annual state tax filings/returns, ensuring that all appropriate adjustments and exemptions are claimed and that BASF's tax liability is accurately determined.<br/>* Assist Tax Manager in conducting all state & local tax audits.<br/>* Maintain state and local tax calendars and tax credit and exemption databases.<br/>* Maintain state & local accrual accounts including the reconciliation of such accounts to the General Ledger on a quarterly basis.<br/>* Prepare and file other necessary returns/reports as assigned.<br/>* Maintain customer sales tax exemption certificate files.<br/>* Respond to vendor use tax exemption requests.<br/>* Respond to all state & local income/franchise and sale/use tax returns<br/><br/>Qualifications<br/><br/>*<br/>BA/BS degree in Accounting.
