Description

Under the direction of the State Tax Manager this job exists in order to ensure that BASF and its subsidiaries ("Company") are in compliance with all state and local income/franchise, sales/use and property tax laws/regulations. This includes the accurate and timely filing of state & local income/franchise, sales/use and personal property tax returns and the timely filing of appropriate credit and exemption applications. This position has daily contact with staff and management personnel in corporate departments, i.e., finance, accounting, engineering, purchasing, etc., to obtain data required in the preparation of exemption applications and property tax returns to determine the basis for assessments & payment of taxes and has some contact with federal, state and local assessing officers/auditors and other outside personnel.

Principal Responsibilities:

* Analyze data to accurately and timely comply with state & local tax returns in one or more of the state tax concentrated areas. This includes requesting appropriate data from the field in a timely manner, analyzing such data and uploading the data into tax systems.
* File monthly, quarterly and/or annual state tax filings/returns, ensuring that all appropriate adjustments and exemptions are claimed and that BASF's tax liability is accurately determined.
* Assist Tax Manager in conducting all state & local tax audits.
* Maintain state and local tax calendars and tax credit and exemption databases.
* Maintain state & local accrual accounts including the reconciliation of such accounts to the General Ledger on a quarterly basis.
* Prepare and file other necessary returns/reports as assigned.
* Maintain customer sales tax exemption certificate files.
* Respond to vendor use tax exemption requests.
* Respond to all state & local income/franchise and sale/use tax returns

Qualifications

BA/BS degree in Accounting. BASF recognizes Institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent.

* CPA and/or MS in Tax a plus.
* Requires a minimum of three (3) years experience in the tax field particularly in one or more of the concentrated state tax functions of sales & use, property, state income/franchise.
* Experience with SAP and tax software products a plus.
* The individual must be proficient in the use of a personal computer with strong software application understanding including such software as Excel and Access.

* Be knowledgeable of and follow all Environmental, Health and Safety practices including but not limited to: manage waste movements according to satellite and/or 90-day accumulation requirements, inspect air contaminant sources and institute corrective action for out-of-spec conditions, prevent releases into the sewer and/or stormwater systems by following BMPs, activate Ciba emergency response procedures in case of spills or other emergencies.
* Responsible for development of processes in multiple strategic projects of moderate complexity. Responsible for planning and execution of laboratory and pilot experiments both independently and with the assistance of technicians.

Qualifications

* B.S in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or related field.
* Minimum 3 years chemical industry experience
* Experience with pigments necessary
* The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to ten pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to fifty pounds, and occasionally move more than one hundred pounds. -The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and stoop; the employee is occasionally required to sit and climb or balance.
* Employee is occasionally required to wear a respirator in performance of job duties.

Description

The main responsibility for the Manager is to implement the strategic plan to penetrate target markets in the construction industry. Manager will lead an interdisciplinary team to assemble and validate high performance building systems, and promote these solutions in the target market. The team will consist of applications experts and market development professionals focusing on the education, government and office segments. The Manager must continuously evolve and regenerate BASF building assemblies and ensure they are developed, tested, validated and marketed in close cooperation with the RBU's (Regional Business Units).

Key Responsibilities:

* The Manager will select, develop and manage an interdisciplinary team to develop and validate building assemblies that strengthen BASF's position in the construction industry.
* Lead continuous innovation in building systems that enable customers to build higher performance and more sustainable buildings.
* Support positioning the current portfolio of building solutions in the market and gain qualifications required to develop new business
* Communicate to all key stakeholders in the construction market, form alliances with industry partners/customers and work with regulatory organizations.
* The Manager will interact with all levels in BASF as well as coordinate with other BASF efforts within the construction arena.

Scope:

* Set-up and lead an interdisciplinary team (final team to consist of 12 market and development and 5 building and application experts)
* Drive building systems development, application testing and validation, as well as promote them as high performing solutions to the education and government office building segments.
* Identify and coordinate relationships with value-adding alliance partners (industry associations, code/regulation institutions, etc.)

Position BASF as a leader in sustainable construction solutions.

Establish open and disciplined communication with RBU's for effective exchange of technical information and commercial opportunities.

* Develop content for market communications projects including tools to aid customers in using BASF building systems.
* Be accountable for business plan.

Qualifications

* Bachelors Degree required with a technical focus. MBA or equivalent work experience required.
* Minimum of 10 years experience within building, architecture and/or the construction industry. Must be an industry expert.
* At least 7 years supervisory/management experience required.
* Very strong orientation around sustainability required.
* LEED accreditation strongly preferred.
* Market Development and sales experience required.
* Experience in education and/or government/public projects required. Design-build experience a strong plus.
* Ability to navigate and manage relations within political realm both internally and externally.
* Project management experience preferred.
