As a laboratory technician, the successful candidates, will join a team that is focused on supporting the entire life cycle of crop protection products; from development of proto-formulations for active ingredient discovery research, through development of commercial products for new as well as established active ingredients and on to support of existing products in manufacturing or the market place. In their assignment as a laboratory technician, they will report to a Sr. Formulation Development Chemist and carry out preparative studies using a variety of techniques relevant to liquid, dry and specialty formulations as well as characterizing the development products using a broad range of physical analytical methods. Laboratory work will involve the safe handling of chemicals with known toxicity as well as those that have yet to be fully characterized.<br/><br/>Reporting to the Sr. Formulation Development Chemist, it is expected that a laboratory technician organizes and performs complex analyses, experiments, and tests on assigned problems; may devise and/or assemble new or modify existing laboratory apparatus according to the needs of assigned problems; prepares detailed data summaries and reports on the observations and determinations made.<br/><br/>Qualifications<br/><br/><b>Education/Experience&#58;</b><br/><br/>Minimum Required: AAS Degree in Chemistry or related field with a minimum of 2 years of relevant chemistry laboratory experience.<br/><br/>Desired:  BS Degree in Chemistry or related field with 5 years of relevant chemistry laboratory experience in the formulation of crop protection chemicals.<br/><br/><b>Equipment Skills&#58;</b><br/><br/>Minimum Experience Required: 2 years laboratory bench experience in formulation, synthesis, preparation, etc.<br/>Desired <b>Experience&#58;</b> 2 plus years laboratory experience in:  Preparation (weighing, blending/mixing, wet and dry milling, coating, granulation, etc...) and Analysis (rheometry, titration, colorimetry, particle size analysis, physical chemical testing of liquid as well as dry formulated products).   Specific experience in bench scale laboratory processes relevant to preparation of formulated agricultural chemical products preferred. This type of experience may be gained directly or with related pharmaceutical or consumer products.  Relevant but not directly related experience may be gained through work in chemical synthesis, particularly organic synthesis.<br/><br/><b>Other Requirements&#58;</b><br/><br/>Intermediate level PC skills. As a Pilot Plant Technician, the successful candidates will join the Kilo Lab team that is focused on supporting the down-stream stages of development of crop protection products; from scale-up and process development studies on commercial product candidates for new as well as established active ingredients, and on to support of existing products in manufacturing or the market place.  In their assignment as a Pilot Plant Technician, they will report to the Sr. Kilo Lab Team Leader, will work with other Chemists and Engineers, and carry out multi-kilogram to multi-hundred kilogram preparative studies using a variety of techniques relevant to liquid (including: batching, blending, bead milling), dry (including: batching, blending, coarse and fine milling, extrusion and drying) and specialty formulations (including micro-encapsulation) as well as characterizing the development products using a broad range of physical analytical methods (including: rheometry, particle size analysis, emulsion and suspension stability). Pilot Plant work will involve the safe handling of chemicals with known toxicity as well as those that have yet to be fully characterized.<br/><br/>Reporting to the Sr. Kilo Lab Team Leader, it is expected that a Pilot Plant Technician devises and/or assembles new equipment and processes or modifies existing kilo lab equipment, processes and procedures.  The incumbent will maintain supplies necessary for safety and lab/process area operations, oversee waste disposal operations in compliance with applicable regulations and policies, organize and perform complex analyses, experiments, and tests on assigned problems.  Commensurate with experience, the pilot plant technician may either devise or follow the instructions of the Project Scientist to assemble new or modify existing pilot-scale apparatus or according to the needs of assigned problems; prepare detailed data summaries and report on the observations and determinations made.<br/><br/>Qualifications<br/><br/><b>Education/Experience&#58;</b><br/><br/>Minimum Required: AAS Degree in Chemistry, Chemical or Pharmaceutical Process Technology or related field with a minimum of 3 years of relevant chemical processing experience in production or in a pilot plant.<br/><br/>Desired:  BS Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or related field with 5 years of relevant chemical processing experience in the formulation of crop protection chemicals.<br/><br/><b>Equipment Skills&#58;</b><br/><br/>Minimum Experience Required: 3 years processing pilot plant or production experience or equivalent laboratory experience involving substantial scale-up work into larger equipment.<br/>Desired <b>Experience&#58;</b> 5 plus years pilot plant or production experience in:  preparation (weighing, blending/mixing, wet and dry milling, coating, filtration, extrusion, drying). This includes, but is not limited to, the acquisition of e-documents from the document management system REGY, scanning of paper documents to e-documents, bookmarking and hyperlinking of PDF documents where required, assembly of submission/dossier outlines, and the final production of electronic and paper versions of the submission/dossier.<br/><br/>Reporting to the Manager, Global Regulatory Services - RTP, it is expected that the Regulatory Submission Specialist will assist global project teams, consisting of product registration managers, in the acquisition of technical reports and documents required for submission purposes.
