Description

Our BASF Catalysts, LLC Erie, PA manufacturing plant has an excellent career opportunity for an Operations Manager who will be responsible for production and warehouse management. The position includes responsibility for the development and achievement of departmental standards related to all facets of manufacturing excellence including safety, quality, cost control and productivity.

Responsible for the compliance and enforcement of all plant policies and procedures. Ensures that direct reports reach their fullest potential through coaching, instruction and training.

The site operates on a 24x7 schedule and is comprised of multiple cost centers, located in several buildings and utilizes a wide variety of unit operations for the manufacture of chemical process catalysts.

Position Responsibilities

* Responsible for implementation of the Operations strategy.
* Provides the vision and leadership to build a high performance team capable of sustained excellence in manufacturing and operations.
* Proven track record of experience in hiring, training, coaching and mentoring key individuals to deliver exceptional business results.
* Must be a seasoned manufacturing and operations professional able to manage human capital and resources in order to achieve strong safety performance, reduce costs, enhance operating efficiency and drive the attainment of corporate goals and objectives.
* Responsible for the management of the Erie manufacturing and logistics areas. Key individual responsible for ensuring that EH&S requirements are met.
* Functional expertise driving operational excellence (Lean, Six Sigma), leading growth implementation, and core optimization efforts. Transfer best practices between sites.

The successful candidate must be willing to relocate to future opportunities within the corporation.

Qualifications

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering. MBA preferred. Six Sigma Black Belt preferred. BASF recognizes Institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent.

Work Experience/Knowledge

Minimum 10 years operations management experience, having progressed through a series of increasing responsibility positions in manufacturing and/or engineering.

* Track record of achieving strong safety performance.
* Working knowledge of Management of Change, Process Safety Management regulated operations and RCMS (Responsible Care Management System).
* Significant experience in building a high performance team and driving programs through a matrix organization.
* Strong leadership skills and ability to influence, negotiate, and problem solve.
* Demonstrated project management experience with major capital investments.
* Strong business acumen and ability to work autonomously.
* Presentation skills and professional etiquette is required.
