Description

This position is primarily responsible for taking care of facilities related work orders. Perform routine facility checks, repairs and inspections. Support Manufacturing, Sr. E&I Tech and Sr. Mechanic. Keep the work order back log under control by completing work orders in a timely/acceptable manner.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required. Must be familiar with all phases of facilities maintenance including carpentry, basic plumbing and electrical. Ability to work safely and follow all SOP's. Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of personnel and management. Must have the motivation necessary to work independently and in a team environment to accomplish goals. Relevant work experience of 4+ years in a manufacturing GMP environment is preferred. Strong mechanical aptitude preferred.

Description

This position is responsible for managing all aspects of the Beauty Cares Solutions Research and Development efforts in the Americas, providing vision and goals for the Cell bio, Product development, Formulations and Clinical testing platforms. This position interacts closely with Marketing, Sales, Operations management as well as major business customers and vendors. This position collaborates with the global R&D group.

- Provide guidance and goals for major platform departments. Monitoring project progress and adjusting resources to accomplish goals.

- Supervise 5 R&D managers (Total group consists of 25 personnel)

- Plan in-house clinical efficacy trials and in-use studies.

- Initiate patent strategies on all supervising fields

- Participate in introduction and vetting of new product ideas.

- Manage departmental budget and staffing issues to meet business goals.

Qualifications

* Minimum M.S.. in Chemistry, Biology, Toxicology or other bioscience degree with knowledge of skin biology. BASF recognizes Institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent.
* Candidate should have a minimum of 3 years experience supervising managers.
* 3+ years experience in the beauty care industry.
* The candidate must have knowledge of the use of standard instruments used in skin biophysical measurements and the underlying principles of these measurements as well as the basic statistical methods used to analyze clinical testing data.
* Excellent organizational and communication skills.

Description

Effectively Provide Analytical Support to Various Business Lines Using NMR techniques

* Responsible for the operation and maintenance of two NMR and one ESR spectrometry instruments.
* Contact requesters, understand their projects and requests, perform analyses, interpret data, write report and if necessary, make recommendations/suggestion to solve technical problems.
* Coordinate various analyses, if needed, and write summary reports. In some cases, analytical reports should have the quality necessary for governmental filing purposes (FDA, EPA).
* Meet customer satisfaction.
* Complete annual technical objectives.

Lab Supervision Responsiblity

* Manage the NMR/ESR lab for effective and efficient daily operation.
* Manage and review the performance of subordinates in the lab.
* Make recommendations for instrument performance improvement and new instrumentation/technology acquisition.

Financial Accountability.

* Maintain high productivity and meet the group chargeability target.
* Ensure the operational expense in line with the budget.
* Negotiate service contract and effectively utilize it.

Safety, Performance management and GLP Compliance

* Perform lab work in accordance with government and BASF safety requirements and guidelines.
* Participate in required safety training to be compliant with GLP.
* Be a team player and make necessary job-related decision.
* Work with supervisor to implement performance/career development planning and review.

Qualifications

Ph.D in Organic, Analytical Chemistry or related scientific field. BASF recognizes Institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent.

Required:

Extensive training and hands-on experience in NMR is required.

In-depth knowledge of Organic Chemistry and Structure Elucidation via NMR and MS.

Understanding of NMR-related theories, data interpretation and skills in NMR operation.

Hands-on experience with NMR maintenance and upkeep.

Lab skills, analytical chemistry and quantitative analysis.

Strong focus on customer and business needs is essential.

Good communication skills when dealing with internal and external customers.

Good skills in writing and oral presentation.

Ability to manage multiple projects with various priorities and deliver results in a timely fashion.

Desirable:

LC/MS/MS hands-on experience.

Supervisory experience.
Work experience in a GLP environment.

Hands on experience with ESR operation, data interpretation and maintenance.
