Description

• Maintains and improves plant reliability through identifying/correcting bad actors, conducting root cause failure analyses, meeting mechanical integrity requirements, and implementing preventive/predictive maintenance programs.

• Provides leadership and technical expertise for the contractor mechanical maintenance resources as may be assigned, including the team leader, planner, mechanics, and support crafts, and communicates with the maintenance coordinator and/or the BASF contract administrator regarding contractor personnel issues, including performance and staffing level requirements.

• Acts as a team with other TTES mechanical and I&E engineers and instrument technicians to perform routine, extraordinary, and turnaround maintenance activities.

• Collaborates with operations personnel in troubleshooting mechanical problems and implementing technology improvements, provides guidance and training as appropriate to promote proper operation and maintenance of equipment and piping systems.

• Requisitions, schedules, and usually provides field oversight of outside contractors and suppliers of mechanical maintenance services performing work at the site or in off site shops.

• Provides primary input to preparing the maintenance budget, and controls spending through appropriate tracking, forecasting, and adjustments.

• Monitors key performance indicators, and supports and implements continuous improvements to the maintenance work processes in order to enhance plant availability and reduce the plant repair factor.

• Administers the various elements of the maintenance program, including equipment and piping inspections, spare parts availability, vibration and oil analysis frequency, PSV maintenance, and similar activities.

• Ensures proper documentation of files, records, databases, and drawings to meet regulatory and BASF requirements, and maintains current requirements as to equipment/materials specifications and vendor preferences.

• Seeks compliance with all environmental, safety, and health requirements, and promotes a safe working environment.

• Performs as mechanical discipline engineer for projects and manages small projects as assigned, and is responsible for seeking additional expertise as situations may warrant.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Mechanical Engineering and at least 8 years industrial experience regarding chemical plant mechanical design, maintenance, operations, and troubleshooting.

• Requires understanding of best industry practices regarding maintenance activities and work processes.

• Requires strong understanding of rotating equipment repair and general knowledge of stationary equipment repair, project execution, and construction and installation techniques. Requires familiarity with BASF Technical standards, accounting practices, and procurement policies.

• Must have general computer skills as well as user knowledge of SAP maintenance and project functions.

• Must have generic competencies of analytical thinking, communication and interpersonal understanding, customer focus, entrepreneurial acting/initiative, team leadership/collaboration, and coaching.

• A professional engineer's license preferred.

• Experience in Utilities operations, including electrical and steam generation equipment is preferred, but not mandatory.

Description

Working with other members of the Wyandotte Engineering, Maintenance and Facilities Team, the Reliability Engineer will be responsible for implementation of reliability programs at the Wyandotte site. Responsibilities include:

* The proper tracking of reliability KPI's.
* Monitoring reliability performance of different operational units.
* Continued development of the multi-year reliability improvement plan, this plan will include the development and execution of capital and expense projects for various operating units at the Wyandotte, MI Site.
* Making a yearly action plan for reliability improvement covering all aspects of reliability such as personnel competency, equipment design, and process changes.
* Provide continuous improvement to the yearly maintenance plan (preventive, predictive) and monitor its execution.
* Participate in reliability related incident investigations; prioritize action items, and follow-up on their implementation.
* Ensure lessons learned, best practices, action items of reliability incidents are communicated and incorporated in the design of new projects and new technical specifications.
* Complete as required monthly reporting.
* Act as primary focal point for reliability related work groups.
* Interface with all Site plant operations maintenance, engineering and research personnel.

Qualifications

The qualified candidate must have a working knowledge of fixed and rotating mechanical equipment, instrumentation, electrical, piping and utility systems. In addition, general computer skills and generic competencies of analytical thinking, communication and interpersonal understanding, customer focus, entrepreneurial acting/initiative, team leadership/collaboration, results orientation, organization awareness, and change orientation/management are required. A Bachelors of Science degree in a technical field is required along with experience setting up and maintaining Mechanical Integrity, PSM, PM/PdM and equipment reliability programs.

Qualifications include 10 years plant engineering experience in the refining or chemicals industry, including a minimum 5 years experience in maintenance. It is desirable to have a strong knowledge of BASF technical standards, accounting practices, and procurement policies. Knowledge of SAP and how it is used to track costs and maintenance history will be needed, but can be a developmental skill. An understanding of best practices for maintenance processes including but not limited to Reliability Based Assessment, Total Productive Maintenance, and Risk Based Inspections is also an important asset for this position. Experience with DCS and PLC control systems.

Description

The Instrument/ Electrical Maintenance Engineer will provide I/E maintenance support for critical infrastructure and utilities at the Freeport site. The engineer is responsible for assuring long-term I/E reliability resulting in cost effective and safe operations.

The position is responsible for providing instrument and electrical engineering expertise.

The I/E Maintenance engineer will ensure proper design, installation, preventive maintenance, and repair of instrument and electrical equipment according to regulatory and BASF standards.

The engineer has primary responsibility for eliminating chronic reliability problems.

The I/E Maintenance Engineer will be expected to take a primary role in the planning and execution of turnarounds.

The engineer may be required to work as project manager for capital and expense reliability projects.

The I/E Maintenance Engineer will review all projects for compatibility with the plant's long-term maintenance strategy utilizing best available technology with consideration for minimized equipment life cycle costs.

The I/E Maintenance engineer works under the direction of the Technical Engineering Services Manager.
