Travels to customer and plant sites as required.<br/><br/>Shift Work:  Staggered starts (i.e., 8:00AM, 8:30AM or 9:00AM) - Candidates will be assigned the start time required for coverage and with advanced notice may be reassigned as business changes dictate. 		<title>Supply Chain Planner III - Master Production Scheduler Job (Southfield, MI, US)</title>
		<description><![CDATA[Supply Chain Planner III - Master Production Scheduler-0900879<br/><br/>BASF is proud to be an Affirmative Action and Equal Opportunity Employer.<br/><br/>Description<br/><br/>Purpose:   As a member of the Supply Chain team, the candidate will be responsible for Master Production Scheduling the Automotive Refinish Coatings business in North America.  Candidate is responsible for converting demand signals (forecasts, customer orders, internal orders) into production orders so the Master schedule supports the needs of the customer and the business in a cost-effective manner.  Ensures materials and capacities are available to support schedules.<br/><br/>Candidate will work closely with many functional groups, the most important being Plant Operations, Brand Management, and Customer Service.<br/><br/>At the end of 2010 production will move from our Belvidere, N.J. plant to our Windsor, Ontario site.  An important priority will be to manage this transition thru 2010 as we cut-over to full production in Windsor in Jan 2011. It will involve overseeing a small, monthly trial schedule at Windsor and an inventory build at Belvidere to cover the ramp-down and ramp-up at the respective sites.  This will require close coordination with the Demand Planner and both Production teams.<br/><br/>Responsibilities include:<br/><br/>* Scheduling production for 500 forecasted package articles.<br/>* Support the supply planning portion of the monthly S&OP process.  Work with site operations and finite scheduler to ensure the Master Schedule and capacities are aligned and in balance to ensure valid schedules.<br/>* Maintain planning parameters and master data in SAP (eg. batch size, lead times, time fences, safety stock, etc.)<br/>* Identify, negotiate, and resolve demand/supply imbalances working with Marketing, Sales, Production, and Customer Service.  Review exception messages and manage schedule change requests.<br/>* Maintain accurate due dates in SAP to support Available-to-Promise.<br/>* Interface regularly with a few 3rd party suppliers.<br/>* Involvement with the product life cycle. Planning for the introduction of new products and the Discontinuance process for phasing out products. Will work closely with Brand Management to achieve proper inv levels.<br/>* Monitor and analyze finished goods inventory in the network (aged, off-spec, high DOS), helping maintain business inventories and other KPI's within target.<br/><br/>BASF recognizes Institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent.  The position will reside in Southfield, MI.<br/><br/>Qualifications<br/><br/>* The ideal candidate has a minimum of 3-5 years of hands-on Master Scheduling experience, using SAP, in a batch Mfg environment (we are looking for somebody who has done this work, not managed others who were schedulers)<br/>* A thorough understanding of Supply Chain principles and concepts (Master and finite scheduling, MRP, raw material or Import planning, distribution planning).
