Description
The role of the Market Development Specialist is to facilitate/achieve new profitable business (EBITDA margin) through innovation, new business development, and new projects to meet global and regional strategy goals within the BASF Foams business. Main responsibilities include:
* Sales Responsibilities: Sales responsibilities include working with sales management and technical service team to achieve aggressive business targets set forth in multi year operational plan. New product launch execution is an integral part of the future success within the business. Ability to extract value pricing from customers in volatile raw materials market is a critical component of this role. Adopt team approach between Market Development and Sales Team for negotiation strategies and sales planning. Coordinate regional sales follow up activity to Market Development Specialist lead generation, so business is directed to partner converters and success tracked.
* Global Projects and Initiatives: Support and leadership for global innovation initiatives (dotted line reporting to Global Innovation Manager). Ability to articulate vision, strategy and tactics of the NA Foams Business to both Regional and Global leadership is critical. The NA Market Development Specialist will support information exchange of best practices with international foams team.
* Innovation Management: Generation of business/product innovation though value chain penetration, customer workshops and pull through concepts, forming strategic alliances/partners at architect, system supplier, general contractor, and cross-RBU level for innovation pipeline, sales follow-up activity, proposal writing and close. Accessing global organizational tools such as marketing, sales, technical, corporate and senior management, so G-Business' full knowledge is enabled and utilized.
* Financial: Financial responsibilities including contributing to profitable growth for the Foams Forecast includes: Volume: lbs Revenue: $M CM1: $M EBIT: $M.
* Marketing: Access and distribute selling tools (third party proof sources, brochures, press releases) created by global marketing department to system suppliers and converters for architect penetration. Use AIA presentations developed by marketing to use and present for use by systems suppliers. Aid marketing in data collection for their development of regional marketing strategy for new value added foams products. Understand market attractiveness, competitive forces, and value pricing models developed by marketing. Support marketing by executing new product launch programs. Provide feedback to marketing on current product issues and demands by converters and system suppliers for improvements.
* Project Generation: Lead Business Development Managers in using a market pull-through approach. This means accessing key influencers, describing value propositions and forming a link to and specification of BASF product innovations for greater profit and differentiation.
* Industry Knowledge: Team of Market Development Specialists will work closely with building and construction (insulation) industry advocates. Support of sustainability and promotion of BASF B&C Sales and Sustainability initiatives (CBE) are other aspects of the role.
The position requires between 25 and 50% travel.
Qualifications
* Bachelors Degree in Business or Marketing is required. BASF recognizes Institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent.
* Masters Degree in Business or Marketing is desired.
* Candidate must have 3-5 years experience in the Construction Business.
* 8-10 Years of professional business experience within the framework of a large matrix organization.
* Proven experience in sales and marketing, managing cross business unit assignments and working on global business teams along with excellent professional skills in dealing with both internal and external customers on a global basis.
* Outstanding organizational skills are a must and a strong foundation in sales, marketing, and strategic decision making are required to demonstrate success.
* Exceptional motivation and ability to develop, negotiate, and manage partner programs, while motivating a core of sales/marketing professionals to achieve and exceed business initiatives.
