Research Chemist
Performs the analysis of samples, usually containing precious metals, using a variety of analytical instrumentation, which may include ICP-OES, ICP-MS, AAS, DCArc-OES, and/or XRF. Will be required to perform standardized testing on routine samples in compliance with internal quality procedures and participate in the development/modification of methods for the analysis for non-routine, complex samples.
PhD in Chemistry with no experience, MS degree in Chemistry with 2 years related experience or a BS degree in Chemistry with 3-5 years experience related experience. Experience in one or more of the following spectroscopy areas: ICP-OES, ICP-MS or XRF is required. BASF recognizes Institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent. Candidate must have demonstrated experience in the development of analytical methods and the spectral and statiscal evaluation of instrumental measurements. Experience with precious metals analysis is a plus. The ability to work in a team environment is required along with very good oral and written communication skills. The incumbent will work as part of a team for the development of new methods and the evaluation of emerging analytical technology. Must be a self-starter, team player and possess strong organizational skills. The candidate must be proficient with computer based data reduction and data management software.
