Applied Genetics Manager Throughout the 20th century, BASF has played a leading role in agriculture and nutrition. BASF Plant Science (BPS) was founded in 1998 and is represented at seven sites in four countries. With this international network of expertise, BPS is especially well equipped to be a leader in plant biotechnology, creating and commercializing innovative products to help keep the world's growing population well fed in the 21st century. The Applied Genetics Manager will be a member of the Applied Genetics team within the BASF Plant Science organization. This team performs critical activities necessary to advance BPS's plant breeding and biotechnology projects from idea to marketplace as fast and effectively as possible. The Applied Genetics Manager will coordinate activities between greenhouse and field, with responsibilities in three areas. The Manager will support regulated crop trials by performing technical process checks required to support GM seasonal and contra - seasonal plantings, and shall design sampling protocols in the field and interpret resulting molecular data. The Manager shall oversee a greenhouse-based trait introgression program. Additionally the Manager will maintain a local inventory of key seedstock serving as regulatory reference and trait donor material.

Qualifications
- Required Ph.D. (emphasis on genetics or molecular biology) with 2 years direct experience, or M.S (similar background) with 5 years direct experience, or B.S (similar background) with 10 years direct experience. Must demonstrate ability to conduct statistical analysis based on Mendelian genetics, basic understanding of breeding principles and ability to interpret PCR-based molecular diagnostic data. Must be able to direct up to 5 staff or contract employees a backcrossing program, and ensure a high degree of quality from planting through harvest and seed processing. Proficiency in MS office application; former or present use of statistical applications. BASF recognizes Institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent. Qualifications - Desired Prior experience performing controlled plant crosses, particularly in canola. Familiarity with basic field operations and demonstrated experience in raising greenhouse-based plants to seed, and subsequent seed cleaning and storage. Familiarity with pedigree management and seed storage and inventory systems. Prior experience working with regulated crops.
