BASF has an immediate opportunity available for an Agricultural Research Chemist III to join the Agricultural Products Group at our Research Triangle Parkrk, NC location.
This position is responsible for conducting or monitoring metabolism studies (plants, animal, soil and water) and method development to support the registration of new BASF agrochemicals and defend the existing registrations. The incumbent will work under limited supervision, plan and conduct studies, write, edit and/or approve detailed comprehensive reports submitted to regulatory agencies, and may lead junior personnel.
Responsibilities may also include responding to questions raised by international regulatory agencies concerning consumer safety associated with the use of the agricultural chemical, writing appropriate risk assessments for use in regulatory dossiers and defense, providing input on the appropriate studies needed to develop these strategies, and developing innovative approaches to elucidate metabolic pathways and early assessments of the regulatory

Required Skills: PhD degree in Chemistry, Environmental Science, Biochemistry or equivalent with minimum 2 years of experience in chemistry, environmental sciences, biochemistry, or equivalent with a broad working knowledge of one or more fields of Chemical or Agricultural Science equivalent. Proficiency in the fundamental aspects of experimental design and data analysis, excellent communication and presentation skills, and the ability to work as a member of a global, multidisciplinary research team.
Desired Skills: Experience with LC/MS/MS for quantitative and qualitative analysis is highly desirable. Familiarity with GLP, QA, regulatory requirements, exposure modeling, dietary risk assessment, and pesticide registration with EU, EPA, PMRA and other regulatory authorities, and experience interacting with regulatory agencies and working with multidisciplinary teams is a plus.
