HR Representative
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide guidance and assistance in implementation of site or corporate programs and policies.
Assist in developing and implementing HR initiatives that align with business goals.
Advise, instruct and support management and supervisors in administration and interpretation of the Collective Bargaining Agreement, company policies and legal requirements.
Reply to all grievances, assist in preparation for and participate in grievance mediations, hearings and arbitration proceedings.
Responsible for communicating contract or site policy changes related to bargaining unit employees, and for implementing or revising related procedures as necessary.
Participate in contract negotiations and negotiations preparation.
Administer site Absenteeism and Tardiness Policy and Perfect Attendance Awards Policy for bargaining unit employees. Initiate attendance-related disciplinary actions as necessary.
Administer Job Classification System for bargaining unit employees.
Track bargaining unit job openings to ensure that contractual job bidding requirements are satisfied.
Coordinate and maintain workmen's compensation.
BS Degree in Human Resources/Business or 5 to 7 years of relevant experience. BASF recognizes Institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent. Experience in a unionized manufacturing environment is highly desired. Familiarity with state and federal labor laws and employment laws. Good written and verbal communication skills, detail-oriented, as well as good Interpersonal skills. Must have the ability to handle multi-tasks, have a strong work ethic, ability to work independently, and think strategically. Travel of approximately 25% is required.
