Field Associate

The Field Associate will be a member of the Trait Conversion team within the BASF Plant Science organization. This team performs critical activities necessary to advance BPS's plant breeding and biotechnology projects from idea to marketplace as fast and effectively as possible. This Field Associate will primarily support the Trait Conversion Manager (85%) by coordinating all activities involving the introgression of transgenic traits into inbred lines of corn in a continuous nursery program on Kauai. This position will also provide support to Parent Seed (15%) by overseeing production of experimental hybrids and increases of inbred lines.
Requried
Bachelor degree in agriculture or related field or equivalent combination of experience and education.
A fundamental knowledge of biotech traits, segregating populations and sampling procedures.
Computer skills in Microsoft office and web applications.
A Restricted Use Pesticide Applicators license is required either upon hiring, or must be acquired within 6 months of hire date.
BASF recognizes institutions of higher education which are accredited by the council for hirhger education accreditation or equivalent.
Desired
5 years experience in seed corn research and nursery management is required, as well as experience in daily management of temporary seasonal personnel.
Experience with breeding research databases
Experience with research plot equipment, including tractors, planters, combines, seed counters, shellers, aspirators, etc..
