Engineer Process Specialist
We have an exciting opportunity for an Engineering Process Specialist to join our Process Engineering team in our East Hartford, CT facility. This position is in our Surface Technology Business where we provide Thermal Spray Coatings for variety of industries including Power Generation, Aerospace and Chemical Processing.
The Engineering Process Specialist is responsible for providing technical support to the development and implementation of new and existing complex thermal spray projects; collecting data to support process capability; and relaying information to the customer, both internal and external. The position works under limited supervision primarily guided by specific assignment objectives given by the Process Engineer or Engineering Manager. The position is responsible for establishing the baseline for production and approving process work instructions which meet all the customer's requirements and is fully accountable for successful completion of the assigned phase of the project to avoid program delays. Position works under limited supervision primarily guided by specific project objectives. Develops own schedule and project timeline with Supervisor approval. Higher level professionals furnish technical assistance for unusual and complex problems during assignment. Must demonstrate a solid ability to work independently to establish process parameters on new "OEM" coating, including robotic programming. Input is considered for project estimation and for maintaining cost within established project scope. Creativity in applications is expected in the job and all novel approaches are usually reviewed before adoption.
Responsibilities
Development of any new part processing regardless of complexity, (tooling design, process instructions, baseline costs, production rates,)
Develop, maintain and diagnosis Robotic programs (simple and complex) for all Fanuc robots
Review and approve process work instructions - ensuring all OEM requirements are met.
Assemble all data required for initial qualification (FAI/VSE/ESA)
Provide technical support to manufacturing and Process Engineer
Assist Production and Quality in resolving CAR, and CATR
Associates degree in Engineering or equivalent related experience. Bachelor's degree preferred.
Minimum 3 years thermal spray experience.
Extensive understanding of Thermal spray process and complimentary processes - tooling design and solid knowledge of robotic programming.
"Hands-on" knowledge of production HVOF, APS, Combustion and Wire thermal spray equipment a definite plus.
Strong leadership and communication skills a must.
Highly motivated and able to drive projects to a successful and timely completion.
Strong interpersonal skills - able to work well with others.
Well organized and good attentiveness to detail.
Sound problem solving ability - able to perform well under tight deadlines.
Ability to take initiative and work with little supervision
Proficient in computer skills including WORD, EXCEL.
AutoCAD skills preferred.
